Project Background

Located at approximately 3,800 metres in the remote Upper Mustang region of Nepal, the Lo Garphuk Manjushree Monastic School provides education, care, and a safe living environment for children from remote Himalayan communities.
Under the guidance of Lama Lhakpa, the school has supported more than 20 young monks and nuns, combining general education up to Grade 8 with traditional Buddhist studies. The school plays an important role in helping children develop academically while remaining connected to their cultural, spiritual, and community heritage.

Project Completion and Closure

Through Project 4, the Nepal Himalaya Sherpa Foundation, together with Himalaya Projekt, provided financial support for essential educational and daily needs, including school supplies, books, clothing, food, teacher and cook salaries, medicines, and general operational costs.

At its peak, approximately 22 children were supported through the project. The assistance helped create a stable environment where the children could learn, receive proper care, and prepare for their future education.

The project was successfully completed and formally closed after a period of support. Its impact remains an important part of the Foundation’s commitment to education, child welfare, and the preservation of cultural heritage in remote Himalayan communities.
