Project 0 – Education and Family Support Programme

Project 0 is a long-term education and family support programme of the Nepal Himalaya Sherpa Foundation, created to help children from economically disadvantaged families continue their education despite financial difficulties.
Through individual sponsorship and family-based assistance, the programme helps cover essential educational needs such as school fees, uniforms, books, learning materials, school supplies, and other necessary expenses. Where families face particularly difficult circumstances, additional support may also be provided according to their needs.
The programme focuses on providing long-term, continuous support, generally helping children through Grade 10. This gives them the opportunity to remain in school, complete their basic education, and prepare for further education, vocational training, employment, and a more secure future.
Project 0 supports children and families across several remote and economically disadvantaged regions of Nepal, including Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Upper Mustang, and the Kanchenjunga region.
Since its establishment, the programme has supported more than 250 children, with over 100 children currently receiving active support. By assisting both children and their families, Project 0 helps reduce the financial barriers to education and contributes to creating greater opportunities for the next generation.
Project 0 is an ongoing programme, continuing to support existing children while welcoming new cases as needs arise. Its guiding principle is simple: every child should have the opportunity to receive an education, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
